:: Animation 1 – Walk Cycle ::

I think the walk cycle shows the basics of 3D animation well and by adding details such as blinking, along with the tie and hair bun moving with each step, the cycle is well polished. I also think by animating the camara It adds visual interest to the animation.

There are some slight annoyances, such as the elbows appearing to snap straight, and I noticed the tie intersects the body briefly, after I had rendered the video. The tie would be very easy to fix, but as I have already rendered the video, I don’t think it damaging enough to re-render.

:: Animation 2 – Run Cycle ::

The worst of my three animations, many things went wrong in the production of the run cycle. From the weight paints glitching out, and not applying properly when redone, to the arm rig creating an issue when pulling the elbows tight I think this really damaged the final animation.

Parts of the animation I like, the blinking is more realistically spaced than in the walk cycle. I also used the post infinity options in the graph editor more to allow the character to move forward while looping the other actions. Overall, this animation would need polishing. There are visual glitches such as on the suspenders. The character’s feet don’t connect with the floor through most of her strides and she moves further forward with her left step than her right, giving an uneven look to the characters run.

:: Animation 3 – Bottle Toss ::

A characterful animation, I am pleased with this result. While I couldn’t get the character to pirouette, I think the hop I have the character do is well executed and allowed me to show both the happy and sad face blends I had produced in addition to the blinking.

I also manage to fix my weight paints in the production of this animation, sadly post rendering the run cycle. It was interesting learning how to animate parenting, and I enjoyed the challenge of creating a believable animation with limited references available.

I’m also happy with the camera work in what would otherwise be a very static animation, and I think I show animation elements such as follow through of things like the bottle landing on the tray well.
