For the initial week I was tasked with simply experimenting with different brushes in maya. I wanted to create some kind of alien face with exposed bone structure, similar to the ‘Kett’ design from ‘Mass Effect Andromeda’ (BIOWARE, 2017).

I started with a sphere and used the move brush to create the extended chin piece. Then used the clay build up brush to create the bone structure framing the face. I removed the alpha in order to not make the brush stroke overly rough and used a smoothed layer beneath a rough outer layer to give the look of thick bone structure.

I then used the chisel creature brush to create the ears and horns. Before using the clay brush, inverted to implement the ear into the character. If i were to develop this further I would need to add some kind of mouth area to the design, perhaps similar in design to the ‘Elcor’ design from the ‘Mass Effect’ franchise (BIOWARE, 2007)
